On the 14th of January, 2024, a terrible plane crash happened in Texas, which took three lives. As the authorities had announced, a plane crashed in Parker County near Poolville, and killed a father and his two young children.
The father was identified as Heath Smith, and he had his two children with him, which their ages were six and eight. At that time, when the accident was reported, the children were not identified as Smith’s children.
A DPS representative had explained that the crash took place near Lone Star Road and BJ Lane, 47 miles northwest of Fort North.
The plane left Carrizo Springs, in Dimmit County before 11 a.m. The plane was from 1975, and was going to Bridgeport when the crash occured at 12:30 p.m.
10 miles southwest of Bridgeport Municipal Airport, the wreckage was found.
After 1 p.m., a LifeCare Ambulance and fire department had went to the scene. What caused the crash is unknown at the moment, as the Aviation Administration and NTSB are investigating it.
Paradise Independent School District had shared that the pilot of the crashed plane was Dr. Heath Smith, the school vice president. He lost his life along with his two children at the crash. The superintendent of the school district, Will Brewer shared:
“Our hearts are devastated for the Smith family. Words cannot fully express the grief that we feel for their loss. The tragedy that this family has endured is unimaginable.”

“He was passionate about his love for Paradise ISD and his impact on students and staff will be long lasting,” Brewer added, as he asked for prayers.
Smith was elected to the school board back in 2017. And in 2023, he was re-elected. He was in his third term of service when he lost his life.
Smith was also a general and bariatric surgeon, where practiced at Wise Health System’s My Bariatric Solutions in Forth North.
Doctor Smith was born and raised in Paradise, Texas, of Wise County. After graduating from high school, he attended to Texas A&M University at College Station.
As he was graduated, he started to work at Virginia Tech/Carillion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia.
