As their love is not a normal standart for Hollywood, the couple of Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn is together for 40 years, without a marriage.
Russel was a 15-year-old boy when he was smitten by 20-year-old Goldie Hawn. It was on the 1968, at the set of a Disney musical, “The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band.”
For their first meeting, Hawn was impressed with the young boy, but she thought that he was too young, and she was dating with older man at that time.
In those times, she didn’t had a significant role in the industry, and as she recalled, once she had a phone call from one producers. “He called me, and he said, ‘You know, I know this is sensitive, but your name sounds like a stripper.'”
She explained that her mother gave her that name, and she wouldn’t change it, since it was her great-aunt’s name.
In the 80s, she became a huge name, and received an Oscar with her role in the movie, “Cactus Flower.”
She was having challenges in an industry where it was dominated by men. She was an independent woman who was struggling. She also had directed and produced too in the industry.
And Russel was working on Disney in those years. He had starred in “Escape From New York,” and “Swing Shift.”
They were already had married and divorced at that time, and both of them were not looking for a relationship.
As Russel shared, he had showed his worst side to her at their first meeting. But Hawn stated that he didn’t and explained that if he would, she wouldn’t be with Russel today.
As their relationship started rather late, they have a great love story which influenced their children too.
In the 40 years of their relationship, the couple had continued to their careers in Hollywood. Sometimes lonely, sometimes together they had worked in the movies, and kept their great relationship alive everytime.
While filming “Swing Shift,” in 1983, they had met again, and the rest is history. Along with their children from their former relationship, the couple had welcomed their son, Wyatt in 1986.
Even though the couple is together for 40 years in the happiest way possible, they never considered getting a marriage license.
They had explained that they do not need a paper to prove that their love exists. As they had both experienced a marriage and divorce, they do not believe that “marriage” is something would solidify or extend their bond or connection.
“We’ve both been married and divorced.” Russel shared, as he explained that marriage is not something that would “upgrade” their relationship.
The couple enjoys their time together in their houses in Aspen and Los Angeles. Their children, which all of Hawn’s children calls Russell “Papa,” accompanies them occasionally. They have a one big family.
“You’ve just got to want to be together.” Hawn said as a secret for their relationship.
