Here are some stories from Redditors, which will surely shock and surprise you. As life can be seemed great at one moment, a second later everything can change, and these stories are the proof of it.
VALENTINE’S DAY DISASTER
A Redditor, u/thecultcanburn, had shared his story as, “My girlfriend of 2 years moved a couple hours away to go to school. We saw each other most weekends. The weekend before Valentine’s day we were together and it was great. The next weekend on V day I go to see her at her parents home. I see through the window as I walk up to the house, her and her fiance are showing her parents an engagement ring.
*edit- additional plot twist as listed in below comments. They got married, and after 6 years she discovered his other wife and kids. He must of been a sweet talker alright. Thank you all for the concern, this was 26 years ago, I’m doing fine.”
THE DNA TEST
Another Redditor, u/Lunatyc84 shared her own story as, “Not a very happy one.
I’ll make it as short as possible, posted about this before.
Met my bio dad when I was 23. After a couple years he invited myself and my toddler son to come live with him as I was struggling financially. Wanted to put me in his will, his wife at the time suggested a paternity test “to be sure”. I get the mail in, swab your cheek one. 6 weeks later the results came back that he wasn’t the dad. She kicked me out. I was homeless, dropped my son off with his father and explained everything, said give me 3 months to work and save so I could get an apartment again. Father of my son claimed abandonment without telling me and got full custody.
Plot twist: 2 weeks after that, bio dad’s wife flipped out and in her moment of crazy admitted her triumph of swabbing her own cheek and sending it under my name for the paternity test. We’ve since retested and he’s my father.”
SECRET SON REVEALED AT THE FUNERAL
The Redditor, u/achybreakyballs had shared a story with a great twist as, “My grandfather’s funeral. He was always a fairly reserved and distant father as far as I understood. Would fit the stereotype of a northern dockworker who comes home expecting dinner to be in the table and then goes to the pub all evening via the bookies.
Anyway, an unsurprising heart attack later, we’re all gathered for his funeral. We’re a big, but close family so we know everyone, including his friends. However, one guy turns up, about the same age as my dad and his siblings who nobody knows.
Long story short, turns out it was my grandfather’s son. From another family. From another marriage. That went on for as long as his marriage to my grandmother. My grandfather had maintained two marriages over 40 years, having 7 children with my grandmother and just the one with this other woman. They knew about our family and kept away and apparently my grandmother knew about them but kept quiet.
Turns out he wasn’t going to the pub every night.”
AFFAIR CHILD WAS THE BEST FRIEND OF HIS SON
The Redditor, u/monstergoro87 shared as, “Had a best friend growing up from who was also my neighbor. Siblings always said that I looked like him and that it would be funny if we did a DNA test. Years go by and we are both in our late 20’s and he on a whim does the Ancestory.com DNA swab. Turns out he matches with my family. He’s my half brother and Dad had to explain a lot that day.”
TWO WIVES OF THE GREAT-GREAT-GRANDFATHER
The next Redditor, u/meditatorBear shared their comment as, “In primary school We had a WWI memorial lesson and we were asked if anyone had any relatives who fought at the time.
My friend brought in a picture of his great great grandfather with his wife.
A girl also brought in a picture of her great great grandfather with his wife.
The teacher said they looked similar. She put them side by side and looked shocked, we gathered around and it was the same man who had kept his two wives a secret. Both had been married privately.
They were cousins and didn’t know.”
MISCARRIAGE TURNED TO TWINS
Redditor, u/chudd, commented their story as, “Wife was pregnant with our third and last (planned) child. We ended up in the ER as she was “miscarrying”. The nurse cried because “the fetus was not viable” so there was nothing to be done. It was horrible. One of the first times I felt completely helpless as an adult. Welp. Turns out the miscarry was actually her body making room for twins. The girls are 5 now. Went from “losing” 1 to gaining 2.
Edit: I apologize for poor phrasing. I typed it late on mobile. Let me clear up some things. The couple previous ultrasounds only showed single baby. There was only a single heartbeat. The “miscarry” symptoms (horrible cramping, pressure, blood loss) was her body preparing for twins. We did not lose a baby. We were told we were losing it by Doctors and had accepted that. In the end we gained 2, but not without another scare. The position of “Fetus B” was in a dangerous location that would make overall development and C-Section very dangerous. We were told for the second time that we’d more than likely lose a baby.
My wife was put on bed rest and went on to carry the twins to full term. The unlikely twin is named Grace.”
LOST HER HUSBAND AFTER 24 HOURS FROM THEIR WEDDING
The Redditor, u/KissTheFrogs had the most terrible day after wedding. The Redditor shared, “I met a man on the internet, on the equivalent of Reddit before there was Reddit, in a mutual interest group. We conversed for nine years. We finally decide to me despite the distance. Turns out we are indeed perfect for each other. I move to where he lives, we get married and he dies 24 days later. I was still getting wedding cards when the sympathy cards rolled in. He was the love of my life.”
