Emily Hime, the granddaughter of the couple who shared 60 years of their lives together, had captured the final moments of her grandparents.
Hime stated that seeing her grandparents like that, made her feel like she was “blessed to witness something beautiful,” as she saw the endless love of her grandparents.
When Emily talked with Love What Matters, she explained that they had mocked their grandfather that he wouldn’t last a day without their grandmother, who was everything for the grandfather. The grandmother was taking care of the grandfather, but on her last two months, their roles were revesed.
“Through this, I have realized that the most romantic love story isn’t Romeo and Juliet… But it’s grandma and grandpa who grew old together.” Hime said.
“It’s grandpa sticking by grandma’s side during the most difficult period of her life. It’s him learning to prepare meals, do laundry, and cook for her as she went through 6 rounds of chemotherapy.”
“It’s grandpa holding her hand, attending every doctor appointment and not leaving the house unless someone took his place as he didn’t want her sitting alone, even for a few minutes.”
Emily also shared that the hospital staff were in love with the elderly couple too, as they had mesmerized everyone with the love they feel for one another.
The old man had spend his whole time with his wife, when she was in the hospital or in hospice care. He was holding her hand all the time, and never a day passed without him kissing his wife.
“They had that kind of forever love, the love we all aspire for. They would have been married 60 years next month, and yet, 60 years still wouldn’t have been enough,” Emily Hime stated.
“‘Oh you’re so precious, goodnight my honey,’ are the last words he spoke to her.”
“They won the greatest race of all, a life full of love together. And what a blessing it’s been to watch this beautiful love story and to be able to capture one of their last precious moments together.”
