A woman had shared a story she experienced with the cleaner she hired, on the Reddit’s “AITA” subreddit.
24-year-old woman stated that she is married with her 28-year-old, and they had a daughter, 4-year-old Alaia. As the OP was working late, the house was staying unattended, so she wanted to hire someone to clean the house.
OP wrote, “I called an agency and they send a girl over to clean the house and we agreed on $40 an hour. (let’s call her Eva). So Eva who is around 19/20 years arrives at my house with her little sister who is eight.”
OP asked to Eva, that why she brought her sister, and Eva said that she had noone to leave her sister with. The Redditor was not pleased with the situation, but she didn’t said anything. Then she showed her daughter’s room, which needed cleaning. Eva’s sister was touching every toy her daughter had, and then Eva started to clean the room.
As she left the room, she started to get ready to pick up a cake for Alaia and to pick Alaia from school. Then she heard a noice from her daughter’s room and rushed over there. OP saw that Eva’s sister broke the glass bowl she made for her daughter, when she was born. She didn’t said anything, and left the house to pick the cake she ordered for her daughter.
OP wrote what happened next as, “I put it in the fridge and left again to pick up Alaia. When we walked in the kitchen I saw Eva’s sister eating a big piece of the cake and exactly the part with the strawberries and more decorations. I have never had an issue like this before in fact the cleaning ladies never open my fridge or anything cause they have no business there. I asked Eva what she thought she was doing and she told me “My sister was sad and really wanted cake so I figured she could have a piece”.”
OP’s daughter started to cry, as she wanted the cake with strawberries, and now the piece of the cake that she wanted was gone.
“I told Eva that it is not her place to figure whether her sister could eat something from my fridge without asking me. She could have waited for me to get back because I told her I would be back. I told her that even if she did do this she should have not taken the whole decorated piece because she could’ve also figured that this cake was meant for my daughter.” OP stated in her post.
Then Eva stated that, “You are getting mad for no reason just take the money from my pay.”
The Redditor then paid $120 to Eva, and told her that she could leave without cleaning, and lead Eva and her sister to the door. Then asked that if she overreacted or not to the Redditors.
