A 27-year-old woman shared a Thanksgiving dinner story where it ended with a drama, in the Reddit’s “AITA” subreddit. The woman shared that she was five months of pregnant when the story happened. The pregnant woman was already struggling with pre-existing health issues, and she was controlling her health with the special diet she was on.
When she attended to the Thanksgiving dinner her mother-in-law was hosting, with the small meal she prepared for herself, her mother-in-law felt offended. OP shared that, “I was making a mistake robbing her grandbaby of getting all meat benefits.” as what her mother-in-law said to her.
As her mother-in-law didn’t let OP to help her in the kitchen, she stated that she will reheat the dish OP brought for herself. When she sat at the table, she saw that her dish was not there, and her mother-in-law had stated that she didn’t received any dish from her and asked that if she forget it in the car, when OP asked about the dish she gave her.
As OP was livid, she decided to left the dinner, but her mother-in-law tried to convince her to sit and eat the food she prepared. OP shared, “I refused but my husband insisted and told me to let it go this time. I decided to leave. I grabbed my stuff and walked out.”
Then OP saw the dish she brought was thrown outside. Her mother-in-law had reasoned that she was thinking of her grandchild’s health, and her husband wanted her to stay in the celebration, and doesn’t wanted his wife to create a scene over a dish. As they had a huge fight in front of the family, the mother-in-law called her a drama queen.
As OP asked for advice, the Redditors had supported OP, as they stated that she did the right thing with leaving. They had explained that the mother-in-law was a terrible person, and her husband should have defended OP too.
