68-year-old Whoopi Goldberg, had talked about her love life in a recent “The View” episode, which caused an interest towards public. After they started to talk about the new Anne Hathaway movie, “The Idea of You,” Goldberg explained that she once dated with a man who was way younger than her.
“Well, I’ve gone up and down—I go—you know I go from here to here. Because I’m not—I’m not, you know—your age is not what’s going to get me into your arms. It’s not your age that I’m concerned about, unless you’re under 18, in which case, I can’t.” Goldberg said.
“Actually, I’m just gonna say this to you. One of the last relationships I had, he was 40 years older than me.”
Many people had commented as, “When was Whoopi’s last relationship? Because no way was she dating a 100-year-old man. 😂” “Wait…Whoopi can’t just drop that bombshell and then cut to commercial 😮. We need details Whoop ☕.” “Did I hear Whoopi correct at the end??” “Wait, Whoopi dated a guy in his 100s? 😮.”
In one of her past interviews with Piers Morgan, Whoopi Goldberg had talked openly about her love life, marriages and relationships.
“The first one lasted six years. The second one lasted two years. And the last one lasted a year,” Morgan started, and Goldberg said, “I suppose that, you know, you have to actually be in love with the person that you marry. You have to really be committed to them. And I’m just — I don’t have that commitment. I’m committed to my family.”
“I wanted to feel normal. And it seemed to me that if I was married, I’d have a much normal — more normal life. But clearly, that’s not the case,” Goldberg said.
She also stated that once she was in love. Even though things didn’t worked out with the man she was in a relationship with, Goldberg revealed that they remained as friends, as he went with his life and had his own family.
“I’m much happier on my own. I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I’m not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone. I don’t want somebody in my house,” Goldberg added.
In another interview, Goldberg said, “…I wanted to feel normal, and it seemed to me that if I was married, I’d have a much more normal life, but clearly that’s not the case. That’s not a good reason to get married. You have to actually want a life with someone through ups and downs.”
“…I’m the round peg, and marriage is the square hole. You can’t have a square hole, can you?” Goldberg explained, as she stated that she was never meant to be married with.
Goldberg had married with her first husband, Alvin Martin when she was 18. Her marriage came before she became a huge name in the industry, and she gained fame.
They got married in 1973, and as the sources are suggesting, Alvin was a drug counselor. They got divorced after their Child Alex, in 1979.
