After three years of relationship, Alice and Noah were getting married. They didn’t cared about a big wedding, as they only wished for being together.
One morning, while having breakfast, “I just can’t wait for our big day,” Alice said. “I have a few surprises, but nothing set in stone yet.”
As the wedding day was approaching, Alice started to buy some expensive things. She bought a bag, designer shoes, and diamond earrings.
They always had a financial understanding, where they were avoiding lavish expenses. When Noah saw these items which Alice bought, he couldn’t understand why. So he decided to talk with Alice.
“Are you sure we can afford this?” Noah asked.
“I got a bonus at work, Noah,” Alice responded. “I just want to be perfect for our wedding. I want to go all out for this one day in my life.” Alice smiled, and Noah believed her, how he couldn’t with the love he was feeling for her.
After the wedding day arrived, and the ceremony started, Noah couldn’t help but notice that Alice was constantly looking at the enterance of the church.
“Are you okay?” Noah asked, “What’s wrong?”
Alice shook her head, and smiled towards Noah, then turned to the priest for their wedding.
“If anyone here has any objection, speak now or forever hold your peace.” Priest said, and the silence made Noah happy, as he realized that he was worried for nothing.
Then something he never wished for happened. A man entered into the church and broke the silence, and Alice’s face lighten up as Noah never seen before.
“Stop it!” The man screamed. “Stop the ceremony!”
“I’m so sorry for interrupting the ceremony! I know I’m late, Father,” the man continued. “But please, let me just walk my little girl down the aisle. I’ve broken all promises to her, but this one, I can’t.”
Everyone was shocked, and Alice’s mother was on her knees.
“Alice, is that…?” Noah stopped. “Yes,” she whispered. “That’s my dad.”
Then the priest turned to Noah, “Shall I carry on?”
“No, let’s do the walk again,” Noah smiled.
Then her father walked Alice down the aisle, where Noah was waiting with a big smile.
“Thank you,” Alice’s father said to Noah, “Thank you for looking after my girl.”
While they were on the road for their honeymoon, Alice smiled towards Noah, “My dad bought me the handbag,” she said. “But the shoes and earrings were from my bonus.”
“Maybe he’ll stick around,” she continued, as she was unsure.
“Maybe he will.” Noah said, as he put a big kiss on Alice’s forehead.
