The reservist Major Bill Hendrick had founded the Toys for Tots, which was a program where the United States Marine Corps Reserve running. The aim of the program was to get gifts for the children which the parents couldn’t affor, when the gift season arrived.
The program kept providing gifts to the underprivileged children during the Christmas season, as every child should be happy in that time.
At the website of the program, it is stated, “The Foundation provides the leadership, funding, and support needed for successful annual toy collection and distribution campaigns.”
In 1997, the program had aired an amazing commerical. And till this day, it can be remembered as one of the best commericals whis represents the Christmas spirit.
In the commerical, a boy gives a paper to a Marine, as he asks that if the Marine is Santa Claus. As the Marine kepts his guard, as he doesn’t talk with the kid, boy asks again, and hands over a piece of paper to the Marine.
It is the wishlist of the kid, and he keeps asking that if his wishes will come true in Christmas. And as Marine is standing still, he opens his hand, and takes the piece of paper from the kid, without breaking his stand, and making eye contact with the kid.

The aim of the commerical was to raise awareness for the program, Toys for Tots, and to remind people that there are children in need, and as Christmas spirit suggests, we need to help who are in need.
