As almost every creature has a benefit for the nature, ticks are not one of them. They are carrying Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spootted fever, which are dangerous conditions for humans, and not just for humans, they can also make your pets sick too, through the diseases they are carrying which are dangerous for animals.
Here are the steps to take if you find a tick in your house. Firstly, you should identify the tick. It can be a a black-legged tick, dog tick, or brown dog tick. Until you take care of the tick, keep your children and pets away from the area you found the tick.
Wear protective equipments on yourself such as gloves and long sleeved clothing so the tick doesn’t latch on you.
If your clothes are contacted with the tick, you should immediately wash them as it might left some eggs on your clothes.
If the tick had latched on you or your children or any of your pet, use fine-tipped tweezers and hold the tick as close as possible to the surface of your skin. Slowly pull it upwards, and don’t twist so the head of the tick couldn’t stay under your skin.
After pulling the tick out, clean the bite area with alcohol, or soapy water. You can terminate the tick with alcohol, or flush it down the toilet. And stay monitoring the bite for the symptoms, and if you don’t feel well, go seek professional assistance from an hospital.
